Guillermo Pinilla

Since 2012, Guillermo Pinilla has been active as an international art dealer, specialising in Old Master paintings, sculpture and drawings.

His early career was shaped by the intermediation and private placement of important twentieth-century works by artists including Pablo Picasso, Nicolas de Staël, Giorgio Morandi, Wifredo Lam, Jean Dubuffet and Marc Chagall. This formative experience within the international art market helped refine his eye across both modern and historical artistic traditions.

Over the past eight years, his practice has increasingly focused on the rediscovery, attribution and placement of historically significant works from the Renaissance to the eighteenth century. His approach is rooted in connoisseurship, rigorous research, archival investigation and close dialogue with leading scholars and institutions.

Through this method, Guillermo has contributed to the identification, study and placement of works connected to major artists including Orazio Gentileschi, Giovanni Battista Moroni, Lavinia Fontana, Francesco Salviati, François Boucher, Tanzio da Varallo, Isaac de Jouderville, Livius Mehus, Nicolas Coustou, Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne II, Jean-Baptiste Théodon and John Michael Rysbrack, among others.

His work has led to significant placements with internationally renowned museums and distinguished private collections, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Musée du Grand Siècle, the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden, the National Gallery Prague and the Art Gallery of Ontario, Toronto, as well as the placement of major works by Francisco de Zurbarán in important private collections.

As founder of Galerie Pinilla, Guillermo has built a gallery guided by scholarship, discretion and a commitment to bringing historically significant works back into the scholarly, institutional and collecting landscape.
